What Students Will Learn
Our educational visits are designed to bridge the gap between classroom textbooks and actual farming environments. Guided by Dr. Sonia Dahiya and our experienced farm instructors, students will cycle through 6 immersive learning modules:
Module 1: Button Mushroom Biology & Waste-to-Wealth Farming
An immersive introduction to the physiology of Agaricus bisporus (Button Mushrooms) and the principles of circular agriculture. Students will learn the science of "waste-to-wealth" farming—how common agro-waste byproducts (wheat straw, paddy straw, poultry manure, and sugarcane bagasse) are biochemically transformed into nutrient-dense, high-protein superfoods, turning agricultural waste into high-value rural wealth.
Module 2: Substrate Science & Composting Chemistry
Understand the biology of natural decomposition. Students will analyze substrate formulas (wheat straw, soybean hulls, oat bran) and learn the thermal pasteurization phases required to eliminate competitor mold while retaining nutrition.
Module 3: Climate Controls & Cultivation Rooms
Walk through our active multi-tiered indoor cultivation rooms. Learn how we manage modern automated HVAC systems to regulate temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, and air flow to trigger primordia (pinning) and fruiting cycles.
Module 4: Guided Harvesting & Selection
A hands-on harvest session! Students will learn how to identify mature button and oyster mushrooms and practice correct picking techniques (twist-and-pull) directly from active compost shelves.
Module 5: Post-Harvest & Cold Chain Management
Discover what happens after harvest. Learn the packaging science, storage sorting guidelines, shelf-life extensions, and low-temperature cold chain logistics required to get fresh mushrooms to target consumers in pristine condition.
Module 6: Agri-Entrepreneurship & Subsidy Schemes
A business workshop discussing real-world numbers, capital required, and government subsidy schemes in India. Empowering students with the knowledge to build a sustainable, modern agricultural startup.
